Ray Morris

Ray Morris - Bass Vocalist

Name:
Ray Morris
Group Position: Bass
Date of Birth: November 25

Ray was born in Houston, Texas but his family roots are deeply planted in East Texas. The Morris family sang all of his growing up years, never formally but always with enthusiasm and excitement about the message in the songs they sang.  The family would gather 'round and listen to music on the radio by groups like The Chuck Wagon Gang, The Stamps Quartet, and The Foggy River Boys. Each summer Bro. Paul Taylor would come to their church for one week to give a singing school out of the latest song book.

In 1958, taking advantage of some free tickets, Ray went to hear a live concert by the Statesmen, The Blackwood Brothers, and The Florida Boys. What an impact their music had on this young Christian.  In 1972 Ray was invited to sing bass for The Travelers Quartet and served with them until they disbanded.  At a reunion of The Travelers in 1989, Gospel Express was conceived. And there Ray serves today.  Ray and his love Beverly have been married for 50+ years, and enjoy living in Chappell Hill, TX with the rest of their family nearby.
